Throughout Bruce's life painting and drawing have been a constant force. His father was a Madman (advertising director) in Westport, CT; and Bruce's parents and their friends were all artists, actors, and authors. This nurturing influence of creative people molded his introspective nature which would steer his future course in art. After high school Bruce set out to be formally trained in New York City and Paris. The 1970's were tumultuous times, with political and social unrest throughout Europe and America. Bruce, like many of his contemporaries, was in the thick of many protests against war and social issues. Bruce continued his art education at the prestigious San Francisco Art Institute where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts. Bruce was exposed to a plethora of talent there from the faculty to his fellow classmates. Bruce's wanderlust has taken him around America, Canada and most of the world, as well as all of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Cambodia, Central America, Canada and the Caribbean Islands.
Over the years Bruce's work has been placed in many gallery shows, and was recently exhibited at The Orlando Museum of Art, Orlando, FL. Other places include: Haywood County Arts Center, Asheville, NC; Airport Gallery, Asheville NC; and the Amsterdam Whitney Gallery, Chelsea New York, NY; Lighthouse Gallery, Tequesta FL; Armory Arts Center, West Palm Beach, FL; and the Sister City Convention Center in Asheville NC. He is also in many private collections in CT, California, Florida and Europe. Instructor at the Asheville Art Museum spring 2020
