Classes: Painting with a Master

I have been teaching students, at all levels, from elementary-school students to college-age students to mature students since 1971.  With this wealth of teaching experience and knowledge, and skills that I have attained over the years, I am able to convey and encourage an individual's journey as an artist at whatever level they are currently at.  In looking at this website, I am hoping that my own art speaks to you and enlivens you to move forward in your own journey of building, creating, and making YOUR OWN art come alive.  And then you can begin your process of painting like a Master.

Come join me in beautiful Asheville, NC, a picturesque Appalachian-mountain setting in Western North Carolina, for an in-depth three-day, five-night oil painting course.  You'll be warmly welcomed Monday evening into your own private suite in my home, and then we'll begin classes the next morning at the in-home studio.  We'll take advantage on one of the days, of the magnificent setting around the in-home studio with some Plein Air time on the overview deck.

You class tuition will include: two daily instruction periods; your private suite accommodations; breakfasts Tuesday through Friday (menu at the bottom of the page); use of easel, and snacks.  By arriving and checking in on Monday evening, this will give you time to get settled for the next three days that we will have in the studio.  We'll wrap up our lessons Thursday afternoon and check out will be Friday by 11 am.

Classes run April 24th - 28th; May 22nd - 26th; June 19th - 23rd; July 10th -14th; with the second semester beginning in August 2017.

Please register early (my classes fill up quickly!) as these classes are designed for an individual or for one couple only.  Very personal instruction for you and your significant other.  However, if your significant other is not a painter, but would like to join you for the vacation-side of visiting Asheville, NC, they are very welcome. The individual rate cost would cover both of you for the accommodations - and there is a wealth of things to do in the Asheville, NC, area.

Our class-schedule will be hands on instruction Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 am to noon, and then we will break for lunch from noon until 2 pm when we will again resume and hold the second class-session from 2 pm to 4 pm.  From 4 pm to 6 pm, I will be available for input, suggestions, etc., and you may continue to paint in the studio, or on the overlook deck, long into the evening, or you may get up early and start painting before class starts.  On one of the evenings, we will take advantage of the Western-facing view and Plein Air paint one of the incredible sunsets that are so often there in the evening, over the pastoral setting of the farm that lies just behind my property, which the deck overlooks.

Once payment is received I will send you a list of the necessary supplies which you may bring with you or you may have shipped to my studio.

The five-night, three-day course, for two people is $1,200 and is $800 for a single person (you may bring your significant other with you, and only you take the course, but both share the accommodations for this price).  You'll check in Monday evening and get settled in.  Then our class will begin the following morning.  Full payment is required to reserve your spot.  Please reserve at least four weeks in advance of the class that you would like to take.  Refunds will be given up to two weeks prior to your reserved class, minus the Paypal or Square fee (if you paid by either one of those methods).
